A Founders Course Bunker Recovery & Renovation Project
In November 2023, we had the chance to visit the Founders Course at Verrado Golf Club to assess how years of weathering, maintenance, and play had gradually altered the character, visibility, and playability of the existing bunkers. During our visit, we observed that the overall bunker strategy was well executed, offering a balanced and fair challenge to golfers. However, turf encroachment on the bunker slopes, along with years of erosion and maintenance practices, had led to the formation of false edges, reduced visibility, and diminished playability of these features. In May 2024, we were fortunate to be awarded the project and promptly commenced the bunker recovery and renovation project.
During the following three months, we collaborated with the club's ownership, staff, and the contractor at Verrado Golf Club to restore some of the dynamic features of the Founders Course bunkers. We also made minor adjustments in several crucial areas to enhance visibility, golfer access, and maintenance efficiency. Additionally, a porous aggregate liner was installed to help maintain the new sand lines and safeguard the bunker slopes and sand quality for many years to come.
The following photos showcase only a fraction of the work done on the Founders Course. We extend our gratitude to the staff for their support, to the contractor for their relentless efforts during the summer heat, and to all the golfers for their understanding and backing as we worked hard to restore the course to its former glory.
